The following piece covers the basics of web design. Of course, this is only one approach to the process. You may discover another series of steps that work better for you and/or your particular project. In general, I suggest that you (and others involved in designing a site) create a game plan for development BEFORE you start to conceptualize the actual content of your site. Having a structure in place beforehand really helped me plan the LiteracyLink site. I relied on my development steps as a foundation for creativity. I highly recommend devising a grounding question or two - to orient your work. Having that grounding question handy helped me remain focused through complicated and/or confusing phases of design.
